As a medical oncologist with over 20 years of experience in private practice, I am passionate about educating people about cancer prevention and healthy living. The advances in cancer treatments since I first started in practice have been stunning. I enjoy giving talks in my community to update patients and their families on the latest cancer treatment breakthroughs. I also speak at medical symposiums to educate physicians on the latest updates in cancer care.
I spend most of my free time with my family but try to find time to play the piano. I initially set out to become a concert pianist and have a degree in piano performance from Oberlin Conservatory of Music along with my degree in neuroscience from Oberlin College.
“As an oncologist, I have been honored to develop bonds with patients and families that last a lifetime. Over my 20 year career, I have witnessed breathtaking developments and rapid advances in scientific research that have dramatically improved how we care for patients. I can’t imagine a more rewarding career, working each day to help patients and families with compassion, making their journey just a little easier.”

Geoff and I met in high school and have been together ever since. He has supported me throughout my long career, and I am forever grateful for his encouragement along the way. I couldn't be the physician I am without him.

We have loved raising our two children (and many adorable cats and dogs) and are blessed with a loving extended family. We have fun paddleboarding, biking, hiking, and playing pickleball. We just joined Widgi Creek Pickleball Club and Orange Theory in Bend and are hoping to stay fit! We are committed to healthy living and support each other on that journey. Geoff is a realtor for SMI Real Estate and enjoys helping clients find their perfect home or investment property. A well-known, beloved, and respected medical oncologist with over 20 years of experience, Dr. Tiffany provides patients with the most advanced and personalized cancer care possible, based on the latest research and clinical trials. She completed medical school Cum Laude at OHSU and was named into the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. She was fortunate to complete her internal medicine training at Massachusetts General Hospital as a clinical fellow at Harvard Medical School.
She returned to OHSU for her fellowship in Hematology and Oncology, where she served as Chief Fellow in her final year. In 2004, after completing her training, she chose to pursue her love of treating patients with cancer and blood disorders at Oregon Oncology Specialists. She was the only female oncologist in Salem for 10 years and this helped her to become an expert in breast cancer, although she continues to treat all types of cancer. From 2004 until the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, she served as an Affiliate Assistant Professor at OHSU, teaching and supporting fellows in medical oncology and hematology. In Salem, she developed an outstanding reputation and a thriving practice. She remained active in her community, serving on multiple committees and board of directors. She spoke regularly at medical symposiums and served as the Physician Liaison to the Commission on Cancer and as Section Chief of Oncology for Salem Health. She was also chair of the Thoracic Committee and vice-chair for the Breast Committee, helping to improve coordination of care for patients with lung cancer and breast cancer.
In September, 2024, she relocated to Bend, Oregon as the Medical Director of Medical Oncology for St. Charles Cancer Center. She sees patients four days a week.
Mentoring Younger Providers
I believe that medical providers in oncology are at high risk for burnout due to the incredibly long hours, the constant life and death decisions we deal with, and due to the constant loss of patients who we hold so dear. I have never felt burnt out out during my 20 year career, but I have seen physician assistants and younger physicians struggle with the emotional toll of working in oncology. I have served on the Salem Health Peer Counseling Committee and have held workshops and retreats to help other practitioners find ways to help manage the stress and toll of practicing medicine so that they can continue to provide amazing and compassionate care while maintaining balance in their personal lives. Mentoring younger providers is a particularly rewarding aspect of my career.
Encouraging Students In STEM
I grew up in Portland and first developed my love of science by taking immersive extra-curricular science classes with the Saturday Academy (SA). As a high school student, in addition to taking classes at Oregon Health and Sciences University through the SA in neuroscience and genetics, I sat on the SA Board of Directors and helped plan their first Women in Science Banquet to inspire female high school students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
I was fortunate to work as a research assistant in a neuroscience lab at Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) during the summers while a neuroscience major at Oberlin, and then for a year after graduating.
I believe firmly in the importance of fostering excellence in education and continue to encourage young people to choose scientific and medical careers. I mentor high school students and allow high school and college students to shadow me in clinic.
“I decided on oncology while completing internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. My first patient was a young Navy SEAL with mesothelioma. He and his family met with Dr. Thomas Lynch, a renowned expert in lung cancer. Dr. Lynch immediately put everyone at ease and made it clear that he would take the best care possible of this young man, both emotionally and physically. I knew by the end of that young man’s visit that cancer care was right for me.”

The advances in Oncology and Hematology have been staggering. As a physician, it is absolutely essential to stay up to date in all aspects of cancer and blood disorder care. Each year I attend multiple conferences highlighting clinical advances from the San Antonio Breast Cancer Conference, the annual meetings of the American Society of Medical Oncology, and the American Society of Hematology. I routinely spend weekends at medical conferences highlighting clinical advances that are essential for cutting edge care of my patients. Giving talks also certainly helps keep my knowledge current.
I have been blessed to work with absolutely wonderful team members, from my awesome medical assistants to the dedicated and kind schedulers, lab personnel, receptionists, nurses, and physician assistants. The team also includes financial assistance managers, social workers, dieticians, and patient care navigators who play an important role in helping ease the anxiety that cancer causes. I have been able to provide outstanding patient care because I have a great team working with me at all times.

I recently heard this piece while driving with Geoff back from Bend and I immediately got the sheet music. Music can express so much more than words. This is dedicated to all my patients from Salem who I will miss dearly--and to the staff at OOS. You will always have a place in my heart.
It is Nuvole Bianche by Ludovico Einaudi. It is messy in spots but my son was page turning and a retake wasn't allowed. :-)
